Student-athletes enrolled in FBC Academy can earn class credits during each season for 1 to 3 classes, that can be added to their primary school transcripts, or FBC Academy transcripts can be reported independently for college credits and/or NCAA curriculum requirements.

Participants considering academy participation need to approve our schedule with their primary school academic advisory staff.

FBC Academy participants compete on the Finest Basketball scholastic travel team.  Program participation (enrolled as a student-athlete, or participant in our classes as a life enrichment opportunity) with FBC ACADEMY make these individuals immediately eligible to play on FINEST BASKETBALL roster for events during the NCAA scholastic evaluation periods - typically November thru March.)

Participation LEVELS:

            SEASON TICKET

Players that seek to play the entire season with FBC Academy are eligible for scholarships and travel support. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

In the 2024/25 season, we will have 7th-11th grade players. Enrolled student-athletes will need to maintain their core course curriculum through a primary school home-school, public school, or independent school.  (FBC Academy offers a full-time student residency option in Durham, NC and has I-20 options in cooperation with local schools for international students) if needed. Dual enrollment credits as a student at Finest Basketball Academy classes will require coordination of classes, schedules, and grade reporting in order to get transcript credit at your home base high school.

Student-athletes may also participate in Finest Basketball Academy as an enrichment program, and elect NOT to receive any class credits for participation in classes. (This option is required if you attend certain schools where a dual enrollment academic status and participation on a secondary academic institution team would make the athlete ineligible to play ANY SPORT for their primary school.) Participation on the Finest Basketball Academy team is deemed to be a "scholastic club" at the national and international NCAA scholastic evaluation events we play. We typically enter the "open/international" divisions, not traditional NHSF divisions, to reduce conflicts from playing restrictions placed on traditional schools with mandates to only compete with other member NHSF schools.

HOW DOES ELIGIBILITY WORK?

Academy players participate in open events primarily serving national association of independent schools (NAIS) programs. There are no restrictions on NAIS member programs participation regarding dual academic enrollment and/or dual eligibility to participate in the specific events we attend.  If a student-athlete attends a public school (governed by NHSF), there are specific rules regarding what teams, locations, ages, are allowed to compete in NHFS certified events.  There are no known eligibility issues with middle school players in private nor public schools..

There are no known eligibly conflicts for players participating in scholastic club basketball events if they attend a home base school other than FBC Academy, so long as they meet certain qualifications as follows (based on published rules as of 5/31/23).

WHAT IS FINEST BASKETBALL ACADEMY?
Our academy offers scholastic class credits and accelerated basketball development for student-athletes that are seeking an immersive basketball development process. We are not a stand-alone school.  However, we do provide a dual enrollment option for student-athletes.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Costs vary by level of participation. SEASON TICKET and FLEX TICKET participants are not responsible for event entry fees, and have scholarship support for travel costs. Unreimbursed costs would range from $500 to $1,500 for the season.

WEEKEND PASS and DAY PASS participants will be charged the team entry fee for each event they attend divided by the number of team players participating in the event (typically $50-$60 per event). There is only limited travel support provided for these part time participants. Assume each hotel night would cost $75 to $200 depending on the venue and % of travel support available based on their participation level. Part-time participants would be responsible for their own transportation costs.

For student-athletes taking academic credit classes thru FBC Academy, there is a $200 cost per class to process the proper paperwork to report tot their home base school for HS transcript credits.
